About The Moving Centre

The Moving Centre was founded in 1987 by Nobuo Iseri (1936- 2001). Iseri shihan was a 6th degree black belt, shihan (master teacher) who dedicated his life to making Aikido accessible to everyone.

Dennis Belt is the chief instructor at the Moving Centre. He has studied Aikido since 1978. He is a 5th degree black belt and a Shidoin (certified instructor) of Birankai International. Belt Sensei is a member of the Teachers Council as well as the examination committe of Birankai International. He has been studying Iaido (Japanese swordmanship) since 1992.

Pat Belt has studied Aikido since 1982. She is a 4th degree black belt and a Shidoin (certified instructor) of Birankai International.

. William Champion who has been studying Aikido since 1992 is a 3rd degree black belt and a Fukushidoin (certified assistant instructor).

The Moving Centre is affiliated with Birankai International (a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of Aikido), under the leadership of T.K. Chiba shihan. Chiba shihan is an 8th degree black belt, master teacher who was a personal student of the founder of Aikido. While he maintains his affiliation with Aikido Headquarters in Japan, Chiba shihan is now based in San Diego.

The Moving Centre / Aikido dojo is a place where people of all ages can train in Aikido. We would like you to think of it as a sacred space where the Way (Do) is practiced. The dojo dues are not payment for individual classes, but support the dojo. Your commitment will help not only your own training and development, but will support and enhance the experience of all the dojo members.
